“Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm.”

Meeting with many people every week, all whom what to be successful, I ask “What is Success?” Success in your business, in your private personal life, in your life, in general, can mean many things, but then if it is so broad of a concept, how can it be a goal? If you feel like today was successful, what will make tomorrow more successful?

I love the Winston Churchill quote “Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm.” To me then it means do you have an endurance mindset? Can you keep going after setback after setback, are you stubborn enough to stick with things you think are right even against overwhelming odds? This could be almost daunting for some, yet I can look at these people that I am meeting with and say “you are a success today” and truly mean it.

Another quote I enjoy a lot is from our past president Calvin Coolidge “Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan “Press On” has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.” So what makes us think that there are successful people around us? I love that determination and persistence and Pressing On (or as I like saying PUSHing on) are part of the equation that this former leader of our country states, that it is not talent, genius, or education, but something from within that needs to be activated.

So again, what is ‘success’ to you? Could success be tied to a goal? Or is it really tied to the movement towards a goal or an objective? Could success be really as simple as not giving up?

I have had my own quote that I share with friends and clients alike, “If you are fully committed, there is no other option than success.”

There is a dynamic force to be found within diligence and dedication when put into a physical world become something more. Self-discipline has a look about it, it has an energy that is perceptible by others, it is a broadcast frequency that you emit. When you have this kind of true discipline, dedicated to your commitment others will sense a level of success from you. You might not feel it yourself, you are the epicenter of that broadcast, after all, the pebble thrown in still water won’t feel the effect of the ripples going out, YOU are in the center of this force of nature that you can become or currently are. You might not see success, but see the ripples as something you need to chase, and with your desire to see progress, you will build even more success.

I encourage you wherever you think you are on your road to success, that you might never see yourself as successful because it emanates from you, and is ever before you like someone chasing a rainbow, as you journey your perspective changes so that it seems you still have more to travel.  That is a good thing, because how others perceive success is in your movement, your relentless desire to continue on no matter what – that you are always PUSHing.
