The Dressed In White 5K is a run organized by Nevada Hamilton, a senior at Christian Academy of Louisville. Nevada is championing to raise awareness and funds to end sex trafficking. Sex trafficking and human trafficking are forms of slavery and, according to a 2011 study, affects nearly 21 million adults and children in the United States and the world.
This is a very real issue close to home here in Louisville. A quick Google search of the subject will show you multiple news stories about this horrible practice. There is a Facebook group called Louisville Metro Human Trafficking Task Force that gives a lot of information and support on this local issue.
Nevada has partnered with three local organizations and one international organization to deploy 100% of the profits from this event to. These organizations are Scarlet Hope, Hosea’s House & The Kristy Love Foundation.
