With the Fall Meet at Keeneland being over, most Kentucky-based horse racing enthusiasts (myself included) experience a sense of sadness. However, that isn’t the case this year – the Breeders’ Cup is going to be held at Churchill Downs!
Coming to town this weekend, the Breeders’ Cup is a multi-million dollar extravaganza. It features the best horses, jockeys, and owners around the world; officially, it marks the end of thoroughbred-racing season. However, if you’re like me, it just makes me crave Derby season even more!
Are y’all planning to attend? If so, you must try the official gin cocktail of the event – the Money Rider, brought to you by Hendrick’s. To say that it is delicious is an understatement. The mix really accentuates the notes of rose and cucumber in the gin. The only issue is that you’ll want another as soon as you finish!
If you can’t have one at the track, yet want to have one at your viewing party at home, rejoice! I have the recipe for you. It’s simple, easy to make in a large batch, and downright delectable.
The Money Rider:
- 2 Parts Hendrick’s Gin
- 1 Part Fresh Lime Juice
- .5 Part Raspberry Syrup
- Topped with Ginger Beer
- Mix well
- Pour over ice
- Serve in a highball glass
Have a wonderful Breeders’ Cup, Louisville!
Y’all come back now, ya hear?
