A few years back construction began off of I-64 just past Simpsonville & caught the attention of every passerby. What was it going to be? An event space? Another shopping center?

Then we saw the stills. Bright copper shining through the multi-story open glass, whetting our whistles with excitement. It was a distillery.

The sign said Jeptha Creed, & while that sounded cool, Kentuckians know that craft distilling operations have become dime a dozen since the latest bourbon boom began. The Jeptha team would have to prove they were more than just a tourist gimmick before we’d take them seriously.

Fast forward a few years & they’ve done just that.

This year, Jeptha Creed joins the list of distinguished local businesses as an Official Product of the 2019 Kentucky Derby Festival. Their six craft vodka flavors, all made from their signature heirloom Bloody Butcher corn, will be making spirits bright as the Official Vodka of KDF from Taste of Derby to Kroger’s Fest-a-Ville on the Waterfront! The team is also eagerly awaiting the release of their Four Grain Bourbon on May 10th! To say the least it is an exciting time for this woman-owned, family operated distillery!

Master Distiller & co-owner, Joyce Nethery, had us out to the distillery to chat about the Jeptha Creed story & to show us all they have to offer at their beautiful Shelbyville location. Listen in as Joyce shares the family adventure of launching a truly “ground to glass” distillery operation with her daughter & co-owner, Autumn, farm manager & husband Bruce, & son Hunter.
