Hello other people of Louisville!

My name is Mark Murdock and I am super excited to be a neighborhood contributor on YesLouisville.com.  My background is in social media and in radio.   You can hear me every Saturday AM from 9AM-Noon on 91.9 WFPK. You can read more about me and see my playlists HERE!

My pal Brian Eichenberger (Yes Louisville Contributor – The Eich Life) and I have a podcast called The Story Guys that you’ll read about soon.

But, I’m not here to talk about me.

I am here to talk about my awesome neighborhood:  Beechmont.  My family and I moved to Beechmont almost a decade ago and we love our neighbors, our restaurants, our parks and entertainment.

When I tell a friend, co-worker or a new acquittance that I live in Beechmont, most of the time, I have to explain where it is.

In south Louisville, it’s south of the Watterson Expressway near Southern Parkway.

It’s an incredibly diverse neighborhood with lots of different types of food.  The Americana Community Center is in our neighborhood and provides programs to immigrants and refugees.

There’s definitely a sense of pride knowing that I can walk to Churchill Downs and my neighborhood includes the Iroquois Amphitheater and the delicious Vietnam Kitchen.

There’s a drive-through liquor store that we affectionally call Long John Liquors, because it clearly served up chicken planks (and extra crispies) at one time.

It’s a super family friendly neighborhood and that’s why we are glad to call it home.

I’m looking forward to telling you about all the great things happening in Beechmont!
