Hello!

Crysta and Jen here, two twenty-somethings, Louisville transplants and new homeowners.

Our journeys have a pretty similar, but different path – We’re both from small towns, albeit on different sides of the state. Our parents are hardworking blue-collar people. One of our best friends is how we met each other while attending the University of Louisville. We could keep going but we’re really on the same wavelength 90% of the time.

Our friend recently married the love of her life and we were both in the bridal party, here’s a picture of us before the big event and hangovers.

About a year ago we both started a journey of looking for a permanent place to stay in Louisville. We both know we’re not going anywhere for various reasons. Jen has a sassy six-year-old at home that attends school in town and Crysta works at a nonprofit in town that she loves.

Another thing that we have in common is our work ethic and big picture vision. These turnkey houses were not for us. We wanted a home with character and we’re not afraid to get our hands dirty to get it. Fixer uppers are for us. The advantageous part of having parents that know how to fix a house means that we have the knowledge to get around a hammer and nails (and saws, glue, and thrifting) when we need it.

When we have a vision, we stick with it and won’t accept anything less. We both FINALLY ended up in the right place at the right time with 2 fixer uppers, a townhouse and a house with an incomplete basement. It hasn’t been easy for either of us (especially the cat hair and cigarette smoke ordeal when we received the keys), but we wouldn’t trade it for the world.

Stick with us on our trials and tribulations of homeownership, we promise to make it fun with tips and lessons learned along the way! We will both be switching back and forth on posts, but you can always keep up with the both of us here on Instagram!

Love,

Jen and Crysta,
